Poker Chip Tricks 101: The Chip Flip
The chip flip is a slightly simple yet fancy poker chip trick. It is a good trick to pass time while waiting for your turn. If you do this chip trick correctly, you may somehow emit a table image of an advanced poker player.
Consider the chip flip as your first real poker chip trick. Here we offer you a step-by-step guide on how to do the chip flip.
1. Begin by stacking three poker chips on top of one another. Make sure their edges are aligned.
2. Form your index, middle, and ring finger into a tripod. These fingers will be used to grip the chips.
3. Grip the chips using your finger-tripod. Make sure it is somehow centered. Apply just enough pressure so that the chips won't fall off. If you apply excess pressure, the chips will fly out of your fingers.
4. Using your thumb, slightly angle the chips in a way that the lowermost chip will have its edges sticking out.
5. Grip the lowermost chip between your thumb and index finger. Maintain pressure on the two other chips using your middle and ring finger, just so they won't fall.
6. Lift the lowermost chip using your thumb and index finger. Do this in a way that it is still pushing against the two other chips, so that pressure is maintained. It would be easy if you sort of slide the lowermost chip than really lift it away.
7. Continue lifting the chip until its face touch the edges of the other two chips. Position your thumb so that it would be on top of the lifted chip, instead of on the side.
8. When the chip is almost on the top of the other two poker chips, apply pressure using your thumb.
9. Push down slightly on the chip using your thumb. The chip will automatically come down on top of the other two.
10. Put the chip in place using your thumb, and repeat the process.
The chip flip is a fairly simple chip trick, yet it will be hard for beginners. The key to mastering the chip flip is to practice, practice, and practice some more. You will get the hang of it eventually.
Another good thing about the chip flip is that simple as it is, it prepares you to do other more complex and fancier poker chip tricks. Just remember, never give up.
